Jorie and the Golden Key by A. H. Richardson

Hey everyone! A few weeks ago you may remember that I read the first book in this series 'Jorie and the Magic Stones'. The author was kind enough to send me a copy of the second book in the series to read as well. In the previous book we saw Jorie, a young woman from the human realm travel to the magical world where dragons rule the skies. She and her friend Rufus were tasked with retrieving the magic stones that would grant any who hold them the power to rule over the world. At the end of their adventure Jorie returned to the world and left the stones in the hands of the Great Wizard who promised to protect them from the Dark Lord. I enjoyed the first book so I jumped at the chance to read the continuation of Jorie's story. The cover of the book is amazing and the colours jump out at you right away. If you are someone who judges a book by its cover this is a great one to start with. Let me tell you a bit about it: Jorie and Rufus are once again called back to the m...

Hey everyone, I'm sorry I've been away for so long. In the last couple weeks I have managed to sort out most of my medical problems and deal with all of the my school work. Now that I am caught up I have time to do readings. Speaking of readings, I have an apology to make to all the lovely authors who have been so kind as to send me copies of their books to review. I am making it my mission now to get them all read and all of the reviews written up within the next couple weeks (school permitting). One of the awesome books I got sent in exchange for an honest review is this one. At first I was weary to read this book because it is a fantasy children's book. On the surface it seems like it is going to be confusing and childish all at the same time. In reality, that couldn't be further from the truth. Jorie, a imaginative young girl, has been sent to live with her Aunt in the countryside for a while. While she is there she intends to explore and learn as much as she ...

The Enemy by Charlie Higson

When I was in high school two of my friends were very into this series and I used to hear them talk about it all the time. At the time I was interested in a different sort of books so I never thought about reading them until now, when I was in the need of some well rated popular books. I loved the idea of everyone older than 14 being a danger to society. Some of you may remember that a few weeks ago I read Quarantine where anyone in their teen years was the danger to the adults. This contrast works greatly when read back to back because you get to see two complete opposites of the same sort of story. Big difference with this books than most I read, it is set in London, England instead of the USA. It's a great change in my opinion. In the US it is much easier to get guns than it is in England (so I have been told) so the children had to actually be creative in finding ways to fight off the adults and defend themselves. I would have liked the have read more about the story star...

"Does Britain still rule the world?" "Uh... not exactly." - Page 169 Happy Monday everyone! This week I got another book that doesn't quite resemble other books. For the first difference, there are pictures in this book, even though it is a chapter book in the teen section! The pictures are littered throughout the book and relate quite nicely to the story being told. It was recommended to me by my friends roommate so I thought I would check it out. It wasn't at all what I was expecting it to be, but all in all it wasn't so bad. Jacob is at a loss. His grandfather, who he had idolized growing up for his incredible stories, has been murdered. Everyone is telling him that wild animals did it, but Jacob can't get the figure he saw outside of his grandfathers house out of his mind. And what of his grandfathers cryptic last words? Finally, after not being able to ignore his curiosity any longer, Jacob and his father take a trip to the island where...
