Top 5: Series Worth a Read

1. Harry Potter: I don't even need to say anything about this one... but I will. A great series that ignited the love of reading in millions all across the world. From the youngest of children to the oldest of adults this book is read and enjoyed. It is a long series with great movies that very few have been unable to get through. If you are looking for a nice long series that you can read over a choosable period of time this is the series for you. 2. The Lord of the Rings: An older classic this is. This includes the Hobbit, which most read after the original three books. This series also comes with a movie that is almost more interesting than the books depending on who you ask. With the Hobbit now becoming a movie trilogy there is all the more reason to do a marathon of reading the books and watching the movies. Just a bit of a warning though, the original series is long and more drawn out than the movie with less 'action' scenes. If you plan on reading the trilogy in a...

K's Classics According to Google.ca

Hello everyone, running a little late today. So much work to get done it's not even funny. No seriously, don't laugh. Anyway, I am sneaking in some time between assignments to do this post, because it is Friday, and I am not going to miss a day for homework! I decided to see what Google, one of the biggest websites on the web would think of the Top Ten Classic books this time, and thankfully I think I have read some of them. I guess we will see now that we are getting started! 1. The Great Gatsby --> As I have said previously, yes I have read this book! 2. To Kill a Mockingbird --> Yes, I have also read this book, and I find it quite enjoyable. Even if I was forced to read it by my mean English teacher... 3. The Catcher in the Rye 4. Nineteen Eighty-Four 5. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn 6. Pride and Prejudice  7. Moby Dick --> Once again, I mentioned that I had read this one in previous entries. 8. Wuthering Heights --> Yep, read this one as w...

The Hobbit by Tolkien

Hey everyone, just finished reading The Hobbit, by Tolkien. As most of you know I have been diving into my geek side lately and have been reading the Lord of the Rings trilogy. To finish off the series I read the Hobbit.  Now don't angry at me for saying this, but I truly loved the Hobbit more than I liked the trilogy. I found there wasn't so much to remember, and they didn't feel the need to explain everything in such great a detail. The characters were loveable, and the storyline was great. We meet Bilbo from the first book of Lord of the Rings, who just wants to go about his lively hood as normal, when a strange wizard Gandalf comes to his home and invites him on a great journey with twelve dwarves to reclaim their homeland in the mountains. The only problem is of course that their mountain home was once claimed by a dragon that still lives there. Bilbo's job? To get into the mountain and defeat the dragon while he is confused by the sight of the Hobbit. Now B...

The Fellowship of the Ring by Tolkien

Hey everyone! So the long awaited book of the century has been read finally! Lord of the rings was a fabulous movie with an amazing story line. For the longest time I have been waiting to read the series and see how much detail the movie had missed, and I must say I was not disappointed!  I found that the movie really romanticized everything, adding in relationships between any character they could. And the hobbits were a lot different as they were actually almost 50 years old in the book, compared to the young looking hobbits in the movie. Now I understand that the hobbits in the movie were also that old, but it was hard to imagine because they had child like faces! A character they missed out on in the movie, and whom they did a very good job completely leaving out in every way, was Tom Bombadill. The crazy old man who lived in the forests and was older than time itself. He was funny and insane all at the same time! A good combination if you ask me. So the book starts...
