The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey

Good morning everyone, I hope you are all doing well. I am on a path it seems writing reviews for books that have become and/or are becoming movies. I never really watch the movies so I can't give a proper comparison for both but I can  give you a proper review for the book. I literally knew nothing of this book going into it so I didn't have hopes for it to be anything besides another teen book. I was really surprised at how much I enjoyed the first half of the book. Let me tell you a bit about it: Cassie lives an awful life as far as she is concerned. An alien race she calls the 'Others' have come to Earth and killed off almost all of humanity in a series of 4 waves. The 1st wave knocked out all electronic devices including cars, killing only a few hundred thousand people world wide. The 2nd wave sent a tsunami that killed everyone living in coastal cities. The 3rd wave was a disease that wiped out 90% of Earth's population leaving only those who were na...

Good morning, afternoon, evening and night to you all! I hope your week is off to a good start. This week (which is really last week) I read Earth 5. At first I found it was a little hard to get into the story, but I found that after a few chapters I was really enjoying the story. That is the first thing you must know about this book.  Let me tell you a bit more about what to expect when reading: Hustin lives in a cabin on the hill behind his grandparents house. While his parents live far away he chooses to spend his time while not at school hiking the mountain paths around his cabin.  One day while on his hike he runs into a boy sleeping in the grass. The boy doesn't look like most boys his age. In fact he doesn't dress like boys his age and he doesn't even talk. Hustin isn't sure what to make of this strange boy so he invites him back to his cabin to eat a few apples from his grandmother's tree. Later that day a girl from school (who Hustin has a bit of a ...

"42" Good morning everybody. Summer is almost here so I hope everyone is in good spirits. Today I decided to read an old classic. The book wasn't overly long so I didn't have any trouble finishing it in record time. But my God was this a weird book if I ever did read one. I have never seen the movie but I have heard many weird things about the book/movie over the years. Since the book was relatively cheap at a local bookstore I thought I would pick it up and give it a go. It is one of those strange classics that everyone knows about after all. Arthur Dent is having a really really bad day. First the ministry has decided to tear his house down whether or not he is in it. But that is only the beginning of things. When his friend Ford shows up to take him to the bar, insisting that he drink 3 pints of beer in under ten minutes, Arthur learns that losing his house might be the least of his worries.  Within minutes the Earth has been destroyed and Ford and Arthur...
