Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

Good morning everyone, I hope you are all having a wonderful morning. Spring is coming, which means the weather is finally starting to warm up a bit here in the frozen north. Nothing gets me into the reading mood more than a little spring fever. Now this book has been on my shelf quite literally since last year and still smells like the bathroom floor in my old dorm room. Since I have run out of books to read I decided it was time to stop being picky about what I was reading and get through the books I started a year ago. I had no expectations for this book because in the year since I bought it I had forgotten what it was about. I long since lost the paper cover for it so unless I wanted to look online for the description (which I didn't) I was reading blind. In the end that was probably a good thing. Alina lives in a post apocalyptic world where unless you are born a powerful Grisha, a warrior with magical abilities, you are nobody. With her childhood friend Mal she is read...

Dark Visions by L. J. Smith

Here we are once again with another book, as promised, and this one was much better than the last one I did. I expected it to be good as it is by my favourite author, L. J. Smith, and she once again did not let me down. It had a very original story line, and the characters were done just as well as they always are. And as usual, she ends it well and the audience is somewhat satisfied, and somewhat disappointed, but in a good way. Kaitlyn has an interesting ability that no one knows about. When she draws, every one of her pictures comes true in the future. But she draws in a trance, and she can't control what she draws. It is terrifying, but she can't control it. Then she gets recruited into a program where teens like her can learn to harness their abilities. There she meets someone who can control animals, someone who can control dice, and a few other people with different powers. Then she meets the vampire. He sucks the spirit out of people, and can connect people minds...

The Iron King by Julie Kagawa

Image
Hey everyone, another great week I hope! This week I read a book series (yes the entire series) called the Iron Fey series, starting with this book here The Iron King. I absolutely loved this series, because the author wrote so clearly, so fluently, and so amazingly that for a time I forgot I was reading and I thought I WAS the character of this book.  Megan lives an interesting life, though she only has one friend, Robby, she still finds comfort in her small family. Even though her step dad doesn't seem to remember that she exists, her younger step brother loves her and her mom takes good care of her. But as her birthday approaches Megan starts seeing people in the woods, and Robby starts acting funny. When her brother disappears and then reappears acting strange, she wants to figure things out. But she doesn't expect what she gets. Robby is actually the infamous Robin Goodfellow from the old tails, and has been watching over her since she was a child and mak...

Dark Inside by Jeyn Roberts

Hey everyone, just finished reading Dark Inside, and I have to say I am deeply disturbed! Now, I am the type of person that is easily scared when it comes to horror, despite my massive love for Halloween. My friend asked me to read it for her, and from the first chapter I was horrified. There is so much death, to people that you normally wouldn't see die in a book. In one scene a two year old is ripped apart while one of the main characters listens from bathroom. We meet four different people who are the focus in each chapter. In chapter one, I believe, we meet Mason, who's mom has just been in an accident. While waiting for her to get better in the hospital he hears news that his school has been destroyed, and all his friends are dead. Depressing, but that is just the start. People are turning up dead all over the place, and his mom has just been pronounced dead. His journey to escape and go to the place where he and his mom shared as a child leads him through the war to...
