K's Book Review

Hey everyone. I hope you are having a good Monday! A few of you might remember an eternity ago when I did the review of the first book in this series. I've had the third book pretty much since they time but I haven't had the time to read it. Finally I forced myself to sit down and finish it because I owed it to the lovely author who sent it to me to finish it. Well, now I'm done and ready to do the review. As always I am absolutely blown away by how much research has been put into this book. The situations the characters are put in are detailed and well thought out. The author has clearly improved his already well honed writing style. For the series as a whole I was very impressed. Hey everyone, sorry I missed you last week. Even this week I have very little energy. Between exams and the incredibly cold weather we're getting I've been taking long naps during the day when I should be getting work done. Christmas is coming and I am 100% looking forward to spending some time with my family. Book wise I have been trying to get caught up on the books that lovely authors have been nice enough to send me. You might remember that a few months ago I did a review for the first book in this series Kings or Pawns. Around that time the author sent me the second book, which I have been trying to find time to read ever since. Somehow I managed to finish this before the new year. Hey everyone, I hope you're having a happy Monday. We're now into December and the cold weather is slowly starting to effect us Canadians. Thankfully for the last couple of weeks the temperature has been hanging around -4, which is pretty warm for this time of year. The windchill is another thing altogether. A couple weeks ago I told my friend that I was having trouble finding new and interesting books to read. She leant me a couple of books that she enjoyed to get me through to the new year. This was one of those books. Her description of the book was that it was about a murder in the heart of Stalin's communist Russia. With not much more to go on I sat down to give it a read. It took me about three days to finish. Let me tell you a bit about it: Leo is a high ranking officer of the MGB, Russia's military police under Stalin's rule. The Hunt for Red October is the 4th book in a series but was the first to be released. It is recommended that it is the first book that should be read to fully understand the series. It is also the book that made Tom Clancy famous. It was later adapted into a movie that is still seen as a popular title years later. Going into this book I didn't know what to expect. I didn't really want to get it at first but because it was so highly rated and recommended I thought I might as well give it a shot. I can tell right away from reading it that it is much older than a lot of the books I am reading at the moment. The style of writing has a weak authors voice that I am used to when reading older books. A while back you may remember that I did a review for book one in this series. Normally I don't do a review past the first book in the series but in this case I am making an exception. I love history and historical fiction. The first book dealt with the First World War and this one deals with the battles that went on after. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to read this book and I will be reading the third book as well. Hey everyone, I'm posting a little late today because... well, I don't actually have an excuse. I was eating McDonalds and then found a funny video online and well... I'm doing it now do there is no reason to go on. A couple weeks ago I received this book to read from the very generous author. It is a Historical Fiction set in World War One from the point of view of a nurse working near the front lines. I love stories from War because they are part of our history and I think it's important to know more about it. This book was also great for me because we had just gotten to the part about World War One in my European History class (both of the ones I am taking). Hello everyone, hope you had a great weekend and are looking forward to an even better week! A couple weeks ago I was at FanExpo in Toronto, and I ran into horror writer Stephen Pearl. Interested in his books, I bought this one and set out to read it while I was continuing my studies in University. Finally finished the book, and it was quite a good read.  So you know how it goes, here is the vague description of what it is about! In the not so distant future the world is at war with an alien race. We meet our hero's early on and see them reunite once again after what appears to be quite a while. The earth as we know it is not a very different place, and at first perhaps, we are quite confused. Through advanced technology we are able to go back to 2030 when it all began and watch the events that lead to the war unfold through the perspective of a few different people. Hey everyone, so I've been watching some movie trailers and I happened across the one for the book above, World War Z. Though the movie didn't look like my cup of tea, as I don't like horror, zombies or tea, the book description was a lot different and actually piqued my interest. I ordered it a few days ago and did a coin flip to see which book I should read. Well, fate chose this book and I couldn't be happier. I haven't been able to put it down through school or my home life. What really got me about this book was the fact that it wasn't at all like a regular book, or at least, not any that I have read.  At first it took me a while to get into the flow of the books, as there are many different stories being told and many questions being asked. All of the questions being asked are by the narrator about events that happened during the war.
