K's Book Review

1. Kitty Hawk: This whole series has been such a great discovery for me. Growing up I loved Nancy Drew and this book has offered me the same girl packaged in a Canadian Goose jacket. Not only is every book set in a different location around the world but the author has done so much research that I wouldn't even be able to tell if he hadn't been there himself. 2. Under a Broken Sky: Post apocalypse at its best here with a scientific undertone. See how different groups react to the new world through the eyes of a man who is no hero by any standpoint. Start riots, steal whenever you cat, and watch out for the funnies. This book kept me glued to the pages from start to finish. 3. The Secret Apocalypse: First book free on Kobo and other e-readers. Imagine the zombie apocalypse. Now imagine it on an island. 1. Discovery of Witches: This book had great promise on the back but couldn't hold up in the delivery. The story was drawn out with little actually happening in a long chapter. I never got to finish this book because I couldn't keep up with everything that happened, even though nothing was really going on. 2. A Series of Unfortunate Events: Each book in the series was exactly the same as the one before but with different stupid people. It was infuriating trying to read because people were just so stupid that it hurt. I couldn't finish the series even though I wanted to. It was just that bad I thought. You might read on in the series and find that things do change but I don't have the patience to do so myself. 3. Tomorrow, When the War Began: I was told that this was one of the best series at the time it came out, but when I started reading it I found that it was just too slow to get into. It started off slow and the end was a massive cliff hanger that almost rubbed...

1. John Dies at the End: I was warned before reading this book that there would be a twist at the end but nothing I expected could have prepared me for what happened. It makes you question everything you have read throughout the rest of the book, but not in the way you would think. It isn't a spoiler to say the ending is a twist because no one could have expected it until it hits you. 2. Good Omens: The ending of this book was still expected, but right at the last moment it changes in a way you couldn't predict. I laughed throughout this entire book for the different nature of writing it had and the ending was no different than the rest of the book; not quite like others. This book may always stay at my number one book for the most enjoyment I got out of it. 3. The Life of Pi: Now I saw the movie so the ending wasn't so much a surprise to me. But I know that if I hadn't seen the movie then I would have certainly been surprised at the twist they threw in at the end....

1. Harry Potter: I don't even need to say anything about this one... but I will. A great series that ignited the love of reading in millions all across the world. From the youngest of children to the oldest of adults this book is read and enjoyed. It is a long series with great movies that very few have been unable to get through. If you are looking for a nice long series that you can read over a choosable period of time this is the series for you. 2. The Lord of the Rings: An older classic this is. This includes the Hobbit, which most read after the original three books. This series also comes with a movie that is almost more interesting than the books depending on who you ask. With the Hobbit now becoming a movie trilogy there is all the more reason to do a marathon of reading the books and watching the movies. 1. Jurassic Park: While the movie was really nothing like the book both were spectacular in their delivery. In the book there are more characters, deeper story lines, and the answers to many of the questions asked while watching the movie. This also applies to the second Jurassic Park book which also became a movie. Both are great books completely worth a read if you liked either of the movies. 2. The Life of Pi: The movie in this case managed to keep very closely to the book, only leaving out the little details that were not completely necessary. It great to watch on the big screen because I got to see all of the beautiful scenes the author had painted while writing the book. If you haven't seen the movie yet, or even if you have, this is a book worth reading. 3. 1. John Dies at the end - I have mentioned this before and I will mention it again. This book is a whole new way of looking at reading. It is funny and full of personality. The plot twists that it hits you with in the first, and in the second book, will keep you on your feet and wanting more. Sometimes it even makes you question what you actually read the whole time and want to go back and read it again. Give it a try because I promise you won't be disappointed. 2. Good Omens -  Funny without the need of romance, action or any other type of bull. An angel and a demon teaming up as old friends and sometimes enemies to try to stop the end of the world and doing a very bad job at it. Fans of Supernatural may get a kick out of this book. 3. World War Z - I put this on my top 5 zombie novels to check out but I am putting this here as well. I loved this book and I continue to read it over and over again because it is written so well. 1. World War Z: Not only did this book show the best style of writing I have seen in a long time but it also had a story that was everything you could ever want in a Zombie novel. I find the most important part of any zombie story is the outbreak itself and how life has changed from before it happened. When a story jumps in after the outbreak occurs it doesn't have the same effect as when they show you people trying to survive as the world goes to hell around them. World War Z demonstrated, without a reasonable doubt, that life for different people is changed dramatically when the world goes to hell. In the novel you will read from a different persons perspective in each chapter telling their story from their country. The book is organized so that the stories are told in order from the beginning of the outbreak to those who tell of how they survived during, all the way to the present day in novel time when they are living in their new world.
