K's Book Review

Hey everyone, it's been a while since my last post. In that time I've been reading a few different books including this one! It's the third book in the series. The rest of the books have been reviewed on this blog as well if you'd like to check those out. The author has been very kind to send me the third book and the others as well. It's interesting, this series, because it really feels like each book could be the end. So each time I see another book I get excited to see the story continue. It's hard to say if this book is the end because, though it ends on a good note, there is still a lot of room for the story to continue. Hey everyone! A few weeks ago you may remember that I read the first book in this series 'Jorie and the Magic Stones'. The author was kind enough to send me a copy of the second book in the series to read as well. In the previous book we saw Jorie, a young woman from the human realm travel to the magical world where dragons rule the skies. She and her friend Rufus were tasked with retrieving the magic stones that would grant any who hold them the power to rule over the world. At the end of their adventure Jorie returned to the world and left the stones in the hands of the Great Wizard who promised to protect them from the Dark Lord. I enjoyed the first book so I jumped at the chance to read the continuation of Jorie's story. The cover of the book is amazing and the colours jump out at you right away. Happy Monday everyone! This is it, the last book in the Harry Potter series. By far the longest and, arguably, the best book in the series. Now that I'm finally finished I wish there were more books to read. I can happily say that I enjoyed this series. For those who have not yet read this series, whether they had seen the movies or not, I would recommend giving this a read. Now that I've finished reading the books I would like to rewatch the movies, even though I know I don't like them as much as the books. Some people may have a different view on this, it's just the way I feel. Let me tell you about it: Dumbledore is dead. The Order of the Phoenix is on the run. The Ministry of Magic has been taken over by Death Eaters. But that doesn't Harry and his friends are going to give up. Hey everyone I hope you're having a great Monday. As you can see I finally got back into reading the Harry Potter series after taking a very long time off. It started off as a way to listen to a book while taking my dog for a walk. When that wasn't moving as quickly as I can read I broke out the books again. Needless to say it has taken up most of my weekend finishing the series. I may have mentioned in the past that I'm not the biggest Harry Potter fan. I still don't enjoy the first couple movies but I've found myself liking the last couple ones more and more in the last couple weeks. My roommate has been a big help with this one. Hey everyone I hope you had a great weekend. As you may have noticed Halloween is quickly approaching. I’m so excited to read all of the spooky stories that are posted this time of year. This week I finally broke down and bought a book that I’ve been seeing in stores for years. The only reason I did was because it was on sale at my bookstore on campus for $2. Even then it sat in my bag until I literally had nothing else to read. The first thing I noticed when I started looking at the book was it was written by an author I had read before. When I was in high school two of my friends were very into this series and I used to hear them talk about it all the time. At the time I was interested in a different sort of books so I never thought about reading them until now, when I was in the need of some well rated popular books. I loved the idea of everyone older than 14 being a danger to society. Some of you may remember that a few weeks ago I read Quarantine where anyone in their teen years was the danger to the adults. This contrast works greatly when read back to back because you get to see two complete opposites of the same sort of story. Big difference with this books than most I read, it is set in London, England instead of the USA. It's a great change in my opinion. In the US it is much easier to get guns than it is in England (so I have been told) so the children had to actually be creative in finding ways to fight off the adults and defend themselves. This book has been on my list for a very long time. I loved the idea of a story set in the setting of a high school where the children were not able to get out. It almost sounded like my high school experience, except I did eventually escape. The author had a strong voice and told the story in a much different way than I expected. I had thought that it would start before the virus and then slowly make its way through what happens during and after. Instead the virus is mentioned briefly and the chapters skip ahead in time quickly to keep up with the interesting information. Let me tell you a bit more about it: David was having a bad week when he discovered his girlfriend cheating on him and he punched the man in the face bringing on the wrath of the entire football team. Good morning everyone. I hope you are all feeling well relaxed after the weekend. Last week I finished yet another Harry Potter book, slowly inching my way to finishing the series. As I have mentioned in previous posts I am enjoying the Harry Potter books more and more as I go along. This one was just as good as the last if not better. It is evident that Ms. Rowling is improving her writing skill (which was already impressive to begin with) as she continues to write. So Harry is back once again attending the world tournament for wizards with Ron and Hermione. He is enjoying watching Victor Krum (a popular player) take over the game and enjoying the last of his summer while still in contact with his God father Sirius.  Soon danger finds him again as a group of Death Eaters (Voldemorts supporters) crash the games tormenting the muggles there. Good morning, afternoon, evening and night to you all! I hope your week is off to a good start. This week (which is really last week) I read Earth 5. At first I found it was a little hard to get into the story, but I found that after a few chapters I was really enjoying the story. That is the first thing you must know about this book.  Let me tell you a bit more about what to expect when reading: Hustin lives in a cabin on the hill behind his grandparents house. While his parents live far away he chooses to spend his time while not at school hiking the mountain paths around his cabin.  One day while on his hike he runs into a boy sleeping in the grass. The boy doesn't look like most boys his age. In fact he doesn't dress like boys his age and he doesn't even talk. Hustin isn't sure what to make of this strange boy so he invites him back to his cabin to eat a few apples from his grandmother's tree. Hey everyone, just finished reading a classic "Wuthering Heights" for my English class. Normally I wouldn't do a book I did for class for a review but I thought I would change it up a bit. Basically this book is separated into two different stories containing generation one and generation two. In generation one we meet Cathy, Heathcliff and Linton who's lives are mixed together from the Heights where Cathy and Heathcliff live to the Grange where Linton lives.  Throughout the story it is told from the point of view of the housekeeper Nelly Dean who watches Cathy struggle as she grows. She has to make the choice between marrying the man she truly loves, and marrying for money and a strong and promising future for her family. The choice she makes will either make or break her. In the second part of the story, also told from Nelly's point of view, we meet Cathy's daughter, Cathy (don't ask) and we learn about how she struggles after the choices her moth...
