K's Book Review

Hey everyone, I'm back again. I know it's been a while but now that I am back in school I am going to try to keep a more regular reading schedule. I won't be working so much so I'm hoping I'll actually want to read and write more often. And I'll start that by catching up on books I've read and writing the reviews for them. This book is the second book in the series and has been sent to me by the lovely author. The review for the first book is on my blog if you are interested in checking it out. This book carries on after the events of the last book left off from the point of view of a different one of the brothers. Hey everyone, this weeks book was Jessica's Guide to Dating on the Dark Side, which is quite the mouthful if I do say so myself. This book has been pushed at me from all my sites, my bookstores, and basically every advertisement I have seen on books. The ratings were high, so I suppose I had my hopes up going into the story. Big mistake. The book was very rushed I feel, the main story almost being thrown violently at you. Let me try to explain it. Meet Jessica, duh, who is waiting for the bus when she notices a strange man watching her. He says her name, but not the one that everyone knows. He says her old name. OMG, what? Her old name? Apparently she knows that when she was a baby she had a name, that her adoptive parents told her about, but now she has a new name. Not even an hour later the guy shows up in her class, acting all high and mighty, and clearly knows nothing about high school at all. "My beloved Louis." - Some random page that I can't find because I read the ebook version... The Vampire Lestat was a hilarious and thoughtful sequel to Interview with the Vampire. The best part about the book is that it acknowledges that the first book was written and published in its own universe. Learning what really happened to Lestat gave me a better appreciation for him, and it is nice to see what happens next instead of constantly being stuck in the past. Let me tell you a bit about it! Lestat has been underground for years without food, attempting to end his life because he could not adapt to the changing world. Hello everyone, back again. This week I am continuing with my obsession in Vampires (trust me, there is a reason for it). I am reading another classic, Interview with the Vampire, which was made a movie a few years back. I haven't seen it yet but I will probably be getting to it shortly. Anne Rice is pretty popular as an author and that gave me pretty high hopes while going into this. I figured that at least I would be getting a good read even if I just read half and then watched the movie. Thankfully, it was good enough for me to finish. Daniel is a young boy looking to do an interview with a vampire he has tracked down. Louis tells his story from his death in New Orleans to his rebirth through the Vampire Lestat. Then he tells of his life with him leading up to many difficult and hard decisions he had to make. Hello everyone, I hope you are all having a good Monday so far. As promised I am back with another review. This week I thought I would kick it old school and read the original Dracula. I got this really awesome looking copy from Chapters and I was so excited to read it! I know a lot of younger people have not read Dracula, and seeing as it is over 100 years old I am not all that surprised. But as an avid reader I find it is my duty to read all of the older books as well as the newer ones. So let me tell you a bit about the book: The book is in diary style format, which I loved. Good afternoon everyone, I hope you are all keeping well. I hope you are all working hard on your reading list or, if you aren't working on a reading list, that you are at least reading. I have recently picked up a few new books with one common theme: Vampires. It has been a while since I have read a good vampire book (one not meant to make teenage girls squeal). I picked up Bram Stoker's Dracula so that I can read a classic, and I will be reading Interview with a Vampire. I haven't seen the movie but I will most likely watch it after I read the book if I think it will be as good as everyone tells me that it is.  So far I am keeping up with the reading challenge, but I am struggling not to fall behind. Thankfully I will have a week off school to get ahead of my readings which means that I will have many more reviews to add on the coming Monday's.  Well that is all I have to update for today. Hey everyone, another series for you today. This was one of the first series I read when I was getting into reading, and it is by my favourite author L. J. Smith, so it had everything I needed in a book. There are three large books like this, and each book has three different stories in them. Each story has new characters, but often characters will run into other stories, which is nice because it shows where they go after their own stories are over. The 'Night World' is a world hidden within our society. It is made up of a few groups of paranormal creatures; Vampires, Witches, Werewolves, and Shifters. Hello again everyone! Many years ago I started reading Marked, the first book in the house of night series because an old friend of mine asked me to check it out for her. I already knew everything that was going to happen in the book before I was starting it, but I still went for it non-the-less. This review is not only for the first book, even though that is all I am going to give the description for to avoid massive spoilers, but the entire series that I had read before giving up.  Meet Zoe who has just been marked. If you are wondering what it mean to be 'marked' it is when you are chosen to become a vampire and a crescent moon appears on your forehead meaning you have to go study at the Tesla House of Night until you either become a full vampire or you die. Hello again everyone! I've just finished The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead. Now this is the second book in the Bloodlines series, and the next series after the Vampire Academy series in case you didn't already know. While I didn't like the Vampire Academy series so much, this series I am seriously getting into. I just love the slightly there slightly not there relationship between Sydney, the wise Alchemist, and Adrian, the witty Moroi.  In this book we continue with Sydney, now living in Palm Springs to continue to protect Jill from enemies trying to dethrone Lissa. Here she is constantly pushed to the limits of trying to be a good Alchemist, and trying to be friends with her mortal enemies the vampires. This becomes more and more of a struggle as Adrian wriggles his way deeper into her life. Thankfully now she has a boyfriend, yes a boyfriend who is not Adrian, and he is keeping her mind off Adrian, for the most part. But life is not all Palm trees and paradise for ...

Hello again everyone! Just finished reading Bloodlines by Richelle Mead. It was certainly better than the vampire academy series in my opinion, but let me make this very clear, I did not finish that series so this one is a bit confusing. But still, I really like the storyline and characters in the book. You meet Sydney Sage, who apparently played a minor role in the Vampire Academy series, who is sent on a mission to redeem herself after assisting vampires despite the fact that she is an Alchemist. Needless to say, they are supposed to hate vampires. There she meets Jill, Lissa's sister from the original book series. She has gone into hiding after an attempt at her life at a council meeting. Her job is to make sure that Jill isn't discovered as a vampire. She runs into some trouble though with Adrian, another character from the original series, someone who she instantly does not get along with. The story follows her journey along with Jill and Adrian.  ...

Hello again everyone! Today I finally finished Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead. To be completely honest about this book, my expectations might have been a bit too high going into this. It was good, with a good story line, but the characters.... I just couldn't get into them. Not even the love interest Demitri. You start off the story by meeting Rose, the main character, and Lissa. They are running from these people, not saying who, who want to bring them back to the Vampire Academy. Of course, they get caught and are brought back. There we learn that Rose is Lissa's guardian and that Lissa is a princess and a very powerful vampire.  After that things basically go back to, what they say, things were before they ran away. Rose is portrayed as quite the slutty character by the author. She states many times that Rose makes out with boys she barely knows over and over again.
