Hello everyone I hope you are having a great day. I'm sorry this is coming at you later in the day than usual but I only just finished reading the book a couple minutes ago. It has taken me a while to read the book as a lot of books have lately but it isn't because I didn't like the book it is just because I have been so busy with school. I am off next week so I am hoping to get a chance to catch up on some reading then. Also, I am sure some of you are noticing that I am reading books lately that aren't very well known books. As apposed to the teen books or popular books I used to do I have been doing other types of books. Hey everyone so as you may have guessed I am not a huge fan of horror movies. So it might come to your surprise that this week I decided to read Stephen King’s The Mist. But to be honest I don’t know if I would call this horror. Maybe Thriller suits it better. I never watched the movie, because I really don’t like seeing those things, but I did read the synopsis of the movie online so I knew what was going to happen. I find that there has to be a very good writer behind the story of a horror or thriller genre to get the emotions flowing. That is why I sometimes like to take a break from teen and adult fiction to take a look at some horror writing. And what better author to look at than Stephen King when looking for horror? David, his wife, and their young son are living a peaceful life on the side of a large lake when a large storm blows in. Hey everyone, another great week I hope! This week I read a book series (yes the entire series) called the Iron Fey series, starting with this book here The Iron King. I absolutely loved this series, because the author wrote so clearly, so fluently, and so amazingly that for a time I forgot I was reading and I thought I WAS the character of this book.  Megan lives an interesting life, though she only has one friend, Robby, she still finds comfort in her small family. Even though her step dad doesn't seem to remember that she exists, her younger step brother loves her and her mom takes good care of her. But as her birthday approaches Megan starts seeing people in the woods, and Robby starts acting funny. When her brother disappears and then reappears acting strange, she wants to figure things out. Hey everyone! So lately I have had a bit of an obsession with the movie The Labyrinth with David Bowie, and I was shocked to find out that there was a 'sequel' of sorts, in the form of a graphic novel. I bought them all in excitement, and I really must say that I enjoyed reading them. There are only 4 volumes in the series, and it gives a new light on the original story. Thirteen years after Sara left the labyrinth by defeating Jareth, Toby, her younger brother, has finally grown up. He is a teenager, who is given everything he wants in life through... odd means... As it turns out, Jareth has been keeping an eye on his old friend, and has been sending goblins to cater to his every need, even if he doesn't know it. But Jareth has reasons for pampering Toby. Hey everyone, lately I have been giving you advice on what books are good to read, and what you should check out based on your preferences. But for people who read a lot, and who don't stretch far from the same kind of books, you might find yourself in a bit of a rut. Today instead of a review for a book, I am going to give you some advice for finding your own kind of books. The first thing you can do is try blindly choosing a book. While this might not work out for you it is a great way to try something new. Let's say you read four books a month, and maybe it is time to try something new. Go to a bookstore, go to the section you normally buy your books in, and close your eyes. Then, reach out and pick a book. If it a book you already have, put it back and try again. If it is the second + book in the series find and choose the first one.  Another thing you could do is follow the first person you see in the store (note: please don't make this obvious, and if they notice y...

Hey everyone, so this week I will be doing a review on another series, instead of a single book. You might be seeing a lot of these in the next little while depending on how things go, because some people don't want to get into a series and realize they don't want to keep reading, and therefore the book is kind of ruined. This doesn't happen to everybody, but anyone who reads as much as I do would run into it once or twice. So this week I thought I would do the run off of a classic 'Clockwork Angel', the prequel to the Mortal Instruments novels that have recently become a popular movie series as well. Now, I don't personally think you need to read the first novels to understand what is happening in this one, but it certainly makes it easier to understand, and there are a lot more 'AHA!' moments if you do. Hey everyone, how's it going? This week I read The First Days, and I have to say, I am a bit horrified. Don't get me wrong, it was a great book, and wonderfully written, the only thing I had problem with was the... no boundaries... The author did not hold back anything, and they didn't care who you were, you were going to die a horrible death. It was more realistic than any zombie book I have read before. So let me tell you a bit about it. We start the book alongside a woman standing outside her house as she watches tiny fingers scrape at her from under the door. It doesn't take long for you to realize that these tiny fingers belong to her three year old son whom she had found being eaten alive by her zombified husband. Then you meet her other son, who had been eaten trying to save her. It is obvious she is in shock as she stands there watching her dead family try to break from the house so they can eat her. Hello again everyone, this week we will be looking at Everneath by Brodi Ashton. Have to say I was looking forward to this book before it came out and I was happy to finally read it. So without further delay let's dive in! Meet Nikki, who has just come back from a 100 year feed in the Everneath. What is that you ask? Hey everyone! Now this post is going to be a bit different then what you all are used to. Normally I would show you a picture of the book I read, tell you a bit about it, and then rate it. But today I am going to tell you about a series, not at all related, but at the same time, has a lot to do with each other. It is called the 'Dear Canada' series. Each book, and there are a lot of them, has a different writer, and a different story from the perspective of either a little girl or a little boy. From book to book they are in the form of a Diary from the children's point of view of events that changed Canada greatly. The first one I read took place during the Halifax explosion, and described from the little girl's perspective how she loses her family, and how she suffers with her town. Hey everyone, just finished reading The Way We Fall, which as most of you know was part of the white pine selection books. The reason I read it was mostly because I have yet to read any of those books, and as one book club to another I find I should support the reading. It was a different sort of reading, as the writing style was in the form of many diary entries that are being written from the main character, Kaelyn, to her friend Leo who has left the island they live on. I thought it was actually kind of good, which is weird for me as I don't normally like these kinds of things. We meet Kaelyn, through the diary entries that begin at the beginning of September and the start of the new school year. She is writing to her old friend Leo, who left the island some time over the summer. We aren't sure just yet, but it seems that they did not have a good parting, and maybe still aren't talking. Hey everyone, finished last weeks read Tempest Rising. Now I didn't have high hopes going into this book. I was right when I found I couldn't really relate to it. When you read a book you have to have some sort of connection to the main character so that you can easily put yourself in their place and enjoy the story. But Tempest, the main character in this case, is not something your average every day girl can relate to. Meet Tempest, who is about to turn 16 (I think). Her mom left her to live in the ocean when she was young. Oh yeah, her mom is a mermaid. Tempest experienced some bad crap with the ocean when she was younger and blames herself (kinda) for her mom leaving. All she has is a note from her mom saying that when she turns 16 she will have the choice to turn into a mermaid or stay on land. Kay. Hey everyone, just finished reading Dark Inside, and I have to say I am deeply disturbed! Now, I am the type of person that is easily scared when it comes to horror, despite my massive love for Halloween. My friend asked me to read it for her, and from the first chapter I was horrified. There is so much death, to people that you normally wouldn't see die in a book. In one scene a two year old is ripped apart while one of the main characters listens from bathroom. We meet four different people who are the focus in each chapter. In chapter one, I believe, we meet Mason, who's mom has just been in an accident. While waiting for her to get better in the hospital he hears news that his school has been destroyed, and all his friends are dead. Depressing, but that is just the start. People are turning up dead all over the place, and his mom has just been pronounced dead. His journey to escape and go to the place where he and his mom shared as a child leads him through the war to...

Hey everyone, just finished reading The Hobbit, by Tolkien. As most of you know I have been diving into my geek side lately and have been reading the Lord of the Rings trilogy. To finish off the series I read the Hobbit.  Now don't angry at me for saying this, but I truly loved the Hobbit more than I liked the trilogy. I found there wasn't so much to remember, and they didn't feel the need to explain everything in such great a detail. The characters were loveable, and the storyline was great. We meet Bilbo from the first book of Lord of the Rings, who just wants to go about his lively hood as normal, when a strange wizard Gandalf comes to his home and invites him on a great journey with twelve dwarves to reclaim their homeland in the mountains. The only problem is of course that their mountain home was once claimed by a dragon that still lives there. Bilbo's job? To get into the mountain and defeat the dragon while he is confused by the sight of the Hobbit. Now B...

Hey everyone! So the long awaited book of the century has been read finally! Lord of the rings was a fabulous movie with an amazing story line. For the longest time I have been waiting to read the series and see how much detail the movie had missed, and I must say I was not disappointed!  I found that the movie really romanticized everything, adding in relationships between any character they could. And the hobbits were a lot different as they were actually almost 50 years old in the book, compared to the young looking hobbits in the movie. Now I understand that the hobbits in the movie were also that old, but it was hard to imagine because they had child like faces! A character they missed out on in the movie, and whom they did a very good job completely leaving out in every way, was Tom Bombadill. The crazy old man who lived in the forests and was older than time itself. He was funny and insane all at the same time! A good combination if you ask me. So the book starts...

Hey everyone, just finished reading Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. Preordered this book only for it to come in the next day, had to laugh at that, and I wasn't really sure what to expect. I've been trying to read new books, or at lease start new series lately, because to be honest the series I have been reading are getting too long, suck now, or aren't coming out until 2014. Bleh. So any way, this was an interesting read, because the characters were different, and the plots were all very unexpected. We meet Violet, who for the longest time I swore was named Anna, no clue why. Hey everyone! Just finished reading a Witch in Winter by Ruth Warburton, and here is my review. To be completely honest I had high hopes going into this book, it seemed promising with witches and love and friendship and all that snazzy jazz. And it took me a while to get used to the fact that this book was clearly written for the british audience, as the language is not what I am used to.  All in all though the book wasn't bad, and was well written despite the fact that it isn't what I am used to. Nothing wrong with that right? We meet Anna, a girl who just moved into Winter with her dad. She had trouble fitting in and starts to show interested in Seth Waters, the rumoured bad boy of the town with quite a history. The only problem with him is that he has a girlfriend. Hey everyone! So I just finished reading Splintered, a book I never knew existed until I spent a few hours researching to find my next book. I was intrigued by the possibility promised that a new wonderland, not explored by Alice, could be introduced. And I must say after reading it I was not disappointed. I mean look at that cover! So beautiful, it promised lots and delivered. We start off meeting Alyssa, one of the original Alice's great-great-great granddaughter. We also meet her mom Allison, who is in a mental hospital because she speaks to flowers and bugs. Weird right? Not really, because Alyssa has the same problem, one which she runs away from by killing the bugs and turning them into art for the purpose of trying not to turn into her mother, or grandmother who all suffer from the same curse. Hey everyone, so I've been watching some movie trailers and I happened across the one for the book above, World War Z. Though the movie didn't look like my cup of tea, as I don't like horror, zombies or tea, the book description was a lot different and actually piqued my interest. I ordered it a few days ago and did a coin flip to see which book I should read. Well, fate chose this book and I couldn't be happier. I haven't been able to put it down through school or my home life. What really got me about this book was the fact that it wasn't at all like a regular book, or at least, not any that I have read.  At first it took me a while to get into the flow of the books, as there are many different stories being told and many questions being asked. All of the questions being asked are by the narrator about events that happened during the war. Each chapter outlines, through eyewitnesses who managed to survive the war, of the beginning straight to the modern ...

Hey everyone! Great to be writing again! Just finished reading  Crush, Candy, Corpse by Sylvia McNicoll and I have to say it was nothing like what I expected. The back of the book doesn't explain just what you have to expect going into this novel. It is not a romance, it is not a story about finding yourself, it is a story of a court case about a girl who may or may not have murdered an old women because she asked her to. From what I read I couldn't tell whether she did it or not. But anyway, we meet Sunny who is on trial for the murder of an old women who chocked to death on a candy at the retirement home where she was earning her community hours. We see her flash backs to her time there and how she fell in love with this women's grandson who had promised the old lady that when her disease progressed too far that he would help her commit suicide. We see her progress with this boy even though she has a boyfriend who is a criminal. It is hard to describe this book ...
