Happy Wednesday!

Happy Wednesday everyone! We are now into March, meaning Spring is almost here! This month I have a lot planned for the blog. Last month I updated the look of the blog (some of you might have noticed) and I fixed the comment system so now you don't have to have a G+ account to post. Please take advantage of that and let me know what you like and don't like. This month I would love to get some recommendations from everyone on what types of books they would like to see more of, recommendation of favourite books, ect. Just let me know what you think. I will look into putting up a program to make it easier for you to communicate with me. We'll see. I would love to host a contest on the blog but for months now I have been looking into it and I have too many problems to really get it off the ground right now. My biggest problem is the price. I don't have the financial means to ship anything all over the world and I can see that I have an interanational audience. The 4 ye...

Poll One

Hey everyone. Last week I stated that I would be too busy on Wednesdays to get a really good post out. So instead I had decided to try to do polls so that viewers like you can have their voices heard. The first poll is posted now with the question: What type of books would you like to see more of? You should see the poll right off to the side of this post. It will be up for one week and next Wednesday there will probably be another one. You are allowed to choose multiple answers. There will also be more options in the coming weeks so for now just answer the best you can. I will take every answer into great consideration. This blog can become much better with your help. So thank you for participating. Have a great day everyone and happy reading! - K

Polls

Good day everyone! I hope you are all having a great day! The new semester of school just started and unfortunately Wednesdays are my rough days. Even now I am posting this entry from my classroom... don't be like me. Pay attention in class. So from now on I will try to move most of my posts and updates to Fridays and will figure something out for Wednesday posts. Right now I am thinking of hosting a new poll every Wednesday maybe starting next week. I hope everyone will participate in the polls to make this blog a lot better. Now I need to go back to class... Have a great day everyone and happy reading! - K

Audiobooks

Good day everyone I hope you are having a good week. This week I have been doing more research into audio books, which if you remember I said I might do last week if I had the time. So I did and now I have the official K's report on what they are like. While it takes a little less time to get through a full one since you don't have to waste time turning pages, you have to have the attention span to listen to someone telling you about the book. It isn't a movie and if you are doing something else while listening you might miss what is going on. You don't really have a choice in voice actor, which I found out the hard way when the third book in the series I was reading suddenly changed. This upset me a little because it really does change the whole book when someone else is narrating it for you. If the book you choose to read does have a choice always go with the man with the English accent. The price is twice as expensive as normal books since you are paying for the ...

Wednesday Update

Good morning everyone. Cheer up, the week is half over. I don't have much to say today but I thought I should update anyway. What are your opinions on audio books? I heard on TV that some people like to listen to them when they go for a walk because it is like reading on the go.  I spend a lot of time walking to and from school every day and I have thought about trying them out if nothing else besides curiosity. I know nothing about audio books like how much they cost, who normally voices them, or how to work them on my phone (since that is how I listen to music). The downsides I am seeing right now is that: 1. I won't be able to listen to my music on the way to school. 2. I may not be paying attention since I am walking 3. I can't think of any books that I would want to hear someone else reading to me There is a lot to consider when going into audio books and I don't know if I really want to go that way. Let me know what you think or if you have listened to an ...

Remember

Good morning everyone. I hope that everyone today is decked out in their Red and Purple poppies in memory of the men and women who gave their lives to serve your country. Here is Canada we stood for a moment of silence at 11 this morning and I am sure many of you did the same all over the world (I hope).  For those of you who want to take this day one step higher be sure to check out much of the history books, documentaries, and biographies that go hand in hand at this time of year. IF you would like maybe even write a poem or story to keep as a memory. I will be taking a little time today to rest and remember those in my family who were in the wars and those who lost their lives. I hope you will do the same. Have a great day everyone and Happy reading! - K

Wednesday Update

Hey everyone. Lately I have been thinking that, since I go to school almost all of the time, it might be worthwhile for me to start reading ebooks. I know I said how much I dislike them, and I do, but I have to walk so far to get to school and books get heavy!  My thought it that I will start buying books online if I need to so that I can read at school whenever I want. I do actually own one of the very old Kobo devices, but I have long since lost the cable for it. For the sake of you guys, who deserve a new book every week, I might start reading ebooks all the time to keep up with the readings.  To be completely honest it might even be easier for me to go this way, even just for a little while. I won't have to get a ride to the book store to buy a book, since I can do it right from my device, and it will be lighter than the average book.  So we will see how this works out and if it doesn't I will go back to regular books.  Other than that I hope you ...

To Come in the Future

Hey everyone, I just went out and bought a ton of new books. This is just a quick update to let you know what to expect in the next couple weeks. So far I plan to: - Finish the last of the Kitty Hawk books I have on me - Read the life of Pi (yes, I got the book after seeing the movie) - Finish the Maze Runner Trilogy (I probably won't do the reviews on them since they are second and third books in a series) - Read another Amazon book that I got from an amazing author - Keep making fun videos to post on the blog Halloween is at the end of the week so not much reading will be done until that is over. But look forward (hopefully) to a video of me decorating my house for the season. That's all the update I have for you now. Have a great week and Happy Reading! - K

Wednesday Update!

Does anyone recommend the Series of Unfortunate Events series? I have heard a few good things about it and I haven't finished Harry Potter yet but I am thinking that I might check them out and do the reviews here. If you think I should read them or would like me to read them and tell you what I think leave a comment below. If you have a suggestion for books that I should read leave a comment below as well.  Have a good day everyone! - K P.S: Happy Reading!

Wednesday Update

Good morning everyone! I hope you are having a good Wednesday. Just a quick update for me to let you know I am starting ANOTHER side project with a group of friends so my readings will be slowed just the slightest (I finally get to be a business manager!). But I am going to try my hardest to get everything done so that I don't miss a single post. But if for any reason I miss one just know that I haven't forgotten about you. This business I am starting may or may not take up a lot of my time. Since this month is our startup I should know by Christmas how to handle things and if it is going to work.  That's all I wanted to tell you! Have a great day and happy reading! - K

Top 5: Books I recommend to read

1. John Dies at the end - I have mentioned this before and I will mention it again. This book is a whole new way of looking at reading. It is funny and full of personality. The plot twists that it hits you with in the first, and in the second book, will keep you on your feet and wanting more. Sometimes it even makes you question what you actually read the whole time and want to go back and read it again. Give it a try because I promise you won't be disappointed. 2. Good Omens -  Funny without the need of romance, action or any other type of bull. An angel and a demon teaming up as old friends and sometimes enemies to try to stop the end of the world and doing a very bad job at it. Fans of Supernatural may get a kick out of this book. 3. World War Z - I put this on my top 5 zombie novels to check out but I am putting this here as well. I loved this book and I continue to read it over and over again because it is written so well. Even if you don't like zombie novels it feels...

Wednesday Update

Hey everyone just checking in with you. School is getting pretty intense in its first couple weeks so I don't have very much for you today. I have a lot of reading to do for school and outside of school but I am keeping up with it thankfully. I have a bunch of new books to read so look forward to that. Also I have noticed here in Canada the leaves have started changing colour which means that we are almost in fall. With Halloween coming up I am looking forward to all of the awesome horror stories I can read.  I won't be drinking any of that nasty pumpkin flavoured drinks that the other people are going for this time of year but Adam and I will be carving a pumpkin with our little Piggy to celebrate our first Halloween in our new place.  Well, you guys don't care about all of that so I will not take up any of your time. Have a great day everyone and happy reading! - K

Back to School Season!

Good morning, afternoon, and evening everyone! It is that time of year again and whether you go to school or not you know that September is a time to celebrate. Of course, most kids don't see going back to school as anything to celebrate but we will do it anyway. School time is a great time to catch up with friends, improve your knowledge, better your future, and read a lot of great books.  For University students like me who have to go buy their textbooks it might seem a little poopy that you have to spend all of your book money on large textbooks that you will only really use for a year. But with a good budget and proper planning you can still manage to fit a few good books into your plan. When back at school try to take any time you can get to yourself to read. Recess if you are in younger grades, lunch break if you are in upper grade, and those small breaks in between lectures if in post-secondary. If you are working fill in your break time with a bit of exercise for the mi...

Update

Hey everyone, I am back online finally. Internet came and was set up yesterday but I wasn't able to get a review up on Monday because of it. To not throw off the natural schedule of the blog I wont be posting another review until Monday again so today is just another update to let you know I am back. It seems like the posts that I scheduled to go up last week worked just fine as far as I know so I will be able to use that in the future. With all of our gear moved in now I will have some time before school starts in a week to read and do other things for the blog. I am still looking into the laws behind giveaways and mulling over the pros and cons of doing so.  So this is just a really quick update to let you all know that I am back now and that things should be back on track for the next while. Have a great week and happy reading! - K

Wednesday Update!

Hey everyone! I am hoping this is coming to you on Wednesday. If not, then well the stupid machine isn't working properly. Whatever.  If you are getting this message then thankfully it worked and hopefully you should be getting one on Friday as well. We are setting the internet up as I write this on Monday so hopefully it will all be installed before next Monday so I will be able to post another review. This update I wanted to let all of you know that I am planning on changing a few things after I move in an have the time to do it. These changes most likely won't apply to the blog but will be upgrades on technology so to help move the blog along. Here are a few changing/upgrades to expect: 1. Twitter: For the last little while I have been debating making a Twitter account for the blog so that people who aren't on Google or Gmail can follow the blog posts as they come. My cousin knows a lot more about social media than me and she has agreed to give me some advice on ho...

Wednesday Update!

Hey everyone a quick update about next week. Monday the posts will be as they normally are but I might have some trouble posting the rest of the week. Next Wednesday I am going to be moving for the first time into a new apartment just off of my campus at the University with my boyfriend.  Since this is the first time moving for us I don't know how long it is going to take us to get on our feet and get things sorted out. The internet hasn't been set up so I won't be able to do direct posts until that is sorted out. But I may try to write up a few posts ahead of time and have them preset to post. Now, I haven't tried this method before so I don't know how well it is going to work out. It could post like it is supposed to or it might now post at all. I have had problems with posting things like this in the past. If I don't happen to post don't think that I am gone for good. I will be back as soon as I sort things out with the apartment. Even then, I probabl...

Wednesday Update

Hey everyone, just stopping in real quick before I head out again. I am going to try to continue with the posts this week (mostly just on Friday) but I am busy with the scavenger hunt. So far my team is doing very well although I doubt we have much chance at winning when we are competing with so many other teams. Still, I would like to believe that we have a chance since the people I am working with are such amazing people.  If I were to win I think I would be more excited to finally meet all of the people I have been working with more than the vacation it would include.  Since I am doing this it also leaves little room for reading. But since the hunt ends on Saturday it will give me all of Sunday to read a book to do the review. I am hoping to get a lot done once this is over but since it is taking up most of my time I don't have the will power to stay up all night to read. But I encourage all of you, if you aren't doing the hunt as well, to continue with your reading and...

Bookshelves!

Good morning everyone I hope you are all having a nice day. This week I thought I would mention the concept of bookshelves. Why? Well, since I am moving soon I have been trying to figure out what to do with all of my books. Those of you who read a lot might have had the same sort of feeling at some point as well. Bookshelves are a great invention because they not only hold the mass amounts of books we read but they can also be used as storage. Some of us don't use shelves and use different methods to store our books, while others may choose to be creative and make a bookshelf out of things around the house. There are many different types of way of storing your books until you read them again and I am only just learning about most of them now in my search for the perfect one. There is one I saw that you make yourself, built straight into the wall, that looks like a tree. Only the branches are laid out so that you can place books on them and the trunk of the tree has hooks to hol...

Online Reading

Good morning everyone. I hope your week has gone well so far. This week for our Wednesday update I thought I would give a short talk on online reading. Lately a lot of people have been switching to ereaders because the books are cheaper, they take up less space, and you can have multiple books on the go. I think I have already given a talk on ereaders but this is a little different. While I still like the traditional method of reading to the ebooks I am not above reading online when I get the chance. And ebooks are not always something that you have to read on the device. Devices die, or short out, or sometimes just become a huge pain so I tend to read ebooks on my phone or computer. The technology era we are living in has made it easy to read books, download and buy books, and take them with you where ever you go.  With reading on my laptop I find I can take a break from working sometimes and just scroll through a good book and go right to the pages that I like to reread w...

Wednesday Update

Hey everyone. So I know that sometimes reading can be hard. Hey, even writing in the blog and finding something to talk to you about every week is hard. And I know that finding the motivation, time, and energy to read is sometimes not as easy as it sounds. To be honest, there is no real way to get yourself motivated if it isn't there. Everyone is different. But if you are having trouble reading, and you think you should be reading more often, the problem may not just be you but your book as well. A bad book or a series of bad books can really put you off reading. Sometimes going to the store, library, or where ever you buy books and just looking around can help you get back into the excitement of reading again. Although if there really is nothing you can do to not get back into reading then don't sweat it. Sometimes giving yourself a rest is a good thing. Whether it is a couple days, months, or even a year there will one day come the time where you will have the urge to pi...
