K's Book Review

The first thing you do when you are buying a book (or at least you should do) is read the description of the book. By doing this you are giving yourself a 'feeling' of what the book will feel like to read in your hands. Anyone who reads a lot, or even a little, will tell you that every book has a different feel to it. From the way the story is spun to the voice of the author there is a feelings in the atmosphere of the story that you can't help but feel. Often times reading the back of the book will give you a completely different feeling than what you get from actually reading the book itself. Even when you think about a book you have read it is the feeling of the story that you are remembering as well as the characters and theme. That is why most people like a specific genre of books because they are used to and comfortable reading those types of stories. Good morning everyone! I hope you are all having a great day! In the last couple days I have gone to school and finished reading a few books. But just yesterday I finished a book and suddenly had a lot of time on my hand. I wanted to do some reading but I had no book on me and there was no where near me to get a book. That is when I started thinking. I have a copy of the Mazy Runner at home, which is the next book on my list. I would love to start reading it now but I can't. But I did buy the book. Would it really be so bad to download the book on my phone considering I had already made the purchase? In that case I could start reading it on my phone and then continue reading with the actual book once I got home. Being  a good person I decided not to download the book, but it did get me thinking. Hey everyone just checking in with you. School is getting pretty intense in its first couple weeks so I don't have very much for you today. I have a lot of reading to do for school and outside of school but I am keeping up with it thankfully. I have a bunch of new books to read so look forward to that. Also I have noticed here in Canada the leaves have started changing colour which means that we are almost in fall. With Halloween coming up I am looking forward to all of the awesome horror stories I can read.  I won't be drinking any of that nasty pumpkin flavoured drinks that the other people are going for this time of year but Adam and I will be carving a pumpkin with our little Piggy to celebrate our first Halloween in our new place.  Well, you guys don't care about all of that so I will not take up any of your time. Good morning, afternoon, and evening everyone! It is that time of year again and whether you go to school or not you know that September is a time to celebrate. Of course, most kids don't see going back to school as anything to celebrate but we will do it anyway. School time is a great time to catch up with friends, improve your knowledge, better your future, and read a lot of great books.  For University students like me who have to go buy their textbooks it might seem a little poopy that you have to spend all of your book money on large textbooks that you will only really use for a year. But with a good budget and proper planning you can still manage to fit a few good books into your plan. When back at school try to take any time you can get to yourself to read. Recess if you are in younger grades, lunch break if you are in upper grade, and those small breaks in between lectures if in post-secondary. Hey everyone, just stopping in real quick before I head out again. I am going to try to continue with the posts this week (mostly just on Friday) but I am busy with the scavenger hunt. So far my team is doing very well although I doubt we have much chance at winning when we are competing with so many other teams. Still, I would like to believe that we have a chance since the people I am working with are such amazing people.  If I were to win I think I would be more excited to finally meet all of the people I have been working with more than the vacation it would include.  Since I am doing this it also leaves little room for reading. But since the hunt ends on Saturday it will give me all of Sunday to read a book to do the review. I am hoping to get a lot done once this is over but since it is taking up most of my time I don't have the will power to stay up all night to read. Well, since I am moving soon I have been trying to figure out what to do with all of my books. Those of you who read a lot might have had the same sort of feeling at some point as well. Bookshelves are a great invention because they not only hold the mass amounts of books we read but they can also be used as storage. Some of us don't use shelves and use different methods to store our books, while others may choose to be creative and make a bookshelf out of things around the house. There are many different types of way of storing your books until you read them again and I am only just learning about most of them now in my search for the perfect one. Good morning everyone. I hope your week has gone well so far. This week for our Wednesday update I thought I would give a short talk on online reading. Lately a lot of people have been switching to ereaders because the books are cheaper, they take up less space, and you can have multiple books on the go. I think I have already given a talk on ereaders but this is a little different. While I still like the traditional method of reading to the ebooks I am not above reading online when I get the chance. And ebooks are not always something that you have to read on the device. Devices die, or short out, or sometimes just become a huge pain so I tend to read ebooks on my phone or computer. The technology era we are living in has made it easy to read books, download and buy books, and take them with you where ever you go.  With reading on my laptop I find I can take a break from working sometimes and just scroll through a good book and go right to the pages that I like to reread w...

Good morning everyone! As I mentioned in my Wednesday post you guys are getting a Friday post this week, and maybe even next week too! This idea was something that my boyfriend came up with (kinda) since I am always explaining to him what happens in books because he doesn't read. I will try to do this every Friday in the upcoming weeks until I run out of books. What is this you may ask? Well I will be writing out a full (unprofessional) synopsis of the books I have read. Hey everyone. So I know that sometimes reading can be hard. Hey, even writing in the blog and finding something to talk to you about every week is hard. And I know that finding the motivation, time, and energy to read is sometimes not as easy as it sounds. To be honest, there is no real way to get yourself motivated if it isn't there. Everyone is different. But if you are having trouble reading, and you think you should be reading more often, the problem may not just be you but your book as well. A bad book or a series of bad books can really put you off reading. Sometimes going to the store, library, or where ever you buy books and just looking around can help you get back into the excitement of reading again. Good morning everyone! Just a quick pop in to say that I am going to take on one of the most painful, testing, and mind numbing tasks I may have ever faced. I am going to do a full day of reading! Alright, so you are probably thinking that this isn't that big a deal. But for me this sort of is. The plan is to, from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to sleep, spend an entire day reading book after book taking a break only to go to the bathroom and get more food. Since I haven't done much reading lately this should be my chance to get all my books I have on side done. When I read I tend to grind my teeth a lot (I don't know why) so normally by the end of the day my teeth are hurting pretty bad when I try to do this. In this time span I plan on getting AT LEAST three books done. Since I have the house to myself this weekend I see no reason not to go through with my plan. Hello everyone. This week I decided to get this stupid little app called Pinterest. Don't mock me, I spend more time messing around with books than I do with websites but it was recommended to me so I thought I would give it a go. One thing I found, which horrified me, was that people have many pages on what to do with 'old books'. At first this intrigued me because I thought there might be possibility. But then I saw what people we doing! They were cutting up books that were perfectly usable to make flowers out of just because they didn't want to read them anymore! Holy crap people, do not do this. There is no acceptable time to rip up, burn, tear, or craft a book no matter what state it is in. When a book is so worn out that it becomes almost unreadable it is the owners job to fix it up or to give it to someone else who is up to the job. Good Morning everyone! I hope your week is treating you well. Lately as I have been browsing different book stores I noticed that a lot of people have different style of reading. We all know that people like different types of books, and with those books there are different ways people like to read. I notice that depending on my mood I also read differently. There are some days where I have the whole day to myself so I will put on some calming music and read from the moment I wake up to the moment I nearly pass out from hunger. Listening to music is sometimes distracting to some readers while to others it sets a mood for the story being told. Another way to read is on the go. When I have a lot of work to get done or I am watching a movie or TV I tend to take a small break to read a chapter or two. This was sent to me by someone wanting me to do a review and after a long time of reading and writing a few things down I think I am ready to write the review. Over the years I have wasted a lot of time going on websites and standing in stores trying to find the next book to read that suites my needs. I read some good books and some back books but in the end they all started to sound the same to me. As it turns out I was spending a lot of my time trying to find books that were exactly the same as the ones I had read before. This is not a good habit for good readers. A good reader needs to be able to read all different kinds of books to really know what they like. And a true reader must be able to read a variety of different books instead of only one genre. That is why I have been pulling out of the Young Adult genre just a little bit. The secret to reading, which is hard to do at first, is to simply grab a book and read. To be able to do this is something that many people will have to figure out on their own. With the weather getting better I have noticed many book sales lately at schools, bookstores, and other places. Take advantage of this time to grab yourself as many books as possible and make it your goal to read as much as you can this year! Also, as my roommate has pointed out, rereading a book is just as good as buying a new one to read. So here is my challenge to you: Go through your old books and find your absolute favourite. Read it again and remind yourself why you love it, and why you love reading. Hello everyone, back again. This week I am continuing with my obsession in Vampires (trust me, there is a reason for it). I am reading another classic, Interview with the Vampire, which was made a movie a few years back. I haven't seen it yet but I will probably be getting to it shortly. Anne Rice is pretty popular as an author and that gave me pretty high hopes while going into this. I figured that at least I would be getting a good read even if I just read half and then watched the movie. Thankfully, it was good enough for me to finish. Happy Wednesday everyone. I thought I would let you know how I am doing on my reading challenge. I am currently done 9 out of 52 of the books and I am working hard towards my tenth. Hello everyone, I hope you are all having a good Monday so far. As promised I am back with another review. This week I thought I would kick it old school and read the original Dracula. I got this really awesome looking copy from Chapters and I was so excited to read it! I know a lot of younger people have not read Dracula, and seeing as it is over 100 years old I am not all that surprised. But as an avid reader I find it is my duty to read all of the older books as well as the newer ones. So let me tell you a bit about the book: The book is in diary style format, which I loved.
